IT Security "Lunch and Learn" Sessions Offered During October -- National Cyber Security Awareness Month

Did you ever want to have lunch with information technology security specialists? What would you ask? What would you share?

Now's your chance. Find out about the latest security tools, ideas, and guidelines. Ask campus experts your best questions and find out about their best practices.

In support of National Cyber Security Awareness Month the UF IT Security team is hosting a series of three "Lunch and Learn" sessions scheduled for October 2, 16, and 30. UF IT Security Engineers, John Sawyer and Jordan Wiens, will welcome any and all interested IT professionals to round-table discussions on System Hardening (Oct. 2), Encryption (Oct. 16) and Centralized Log Management (Oct. 30). The two-hour sessions will feature questions and answers with Sawyer and Wiens as moderators and hosts. There are no formal presentations, no PowerPoint slides, no laser pointers. It will just be Sawyer and Wiens facilitating discussion and sharing their knowledge on the topics you selected as the most pressing IT security issues at UF.

These sessions are being offered in place of IT Security Awareness (ITSA) Day, which will not be presented this year.

The October 2 session will focus on System Hardening, the practice of making your system secure from viruses, worms, hackers and other destructive beasties. All sessions are from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Food is not provided, but grab a bite from the JWRU Food Court (food must come from the food court; "brown bags" are not allowed) and join the discussion.
