Incident Response Workshop

December 14, 2005

Welcome!

This workshop teaches about the changes to the UF IT Security Incident Response Procedures, Standards and Guidelines which were recently implemented by Dr. Hoit, UF VP for Information Technology.

This workshop covers the importance of responding to security incidents and how network and server managers can effectively remedy tickets in a timely manner. It  also serves as an informative session for the new Florida privacy law that took effect July 1, 2005.  Incident classification and media response are covered so all UF IT workers will understand response procedures for incidents.

A similar workshop was offered in June, prior to the implementation of the new privacy law, to cover a draft of the standard. This workshop covers the final revisions of the standard and additionally includes guest speakers to address other topics relevant to incident response.

After an overview of the new policy, Avi Baumstein discussed incident response in relation to the Health Science Center, Everall Peele from the UF Privacy Office gave a presentation on the role of the UF Privacy Office policy, and Chris Wagoner of SFCC Police Academy provides useful forensics tips. In addition, Kristina Raattama from the UF Office of General Counsel was available to answer legal questions.

This event is free and open to all UF employees.

The UF IT Security Team appreciates your aptitude and desire to stay informed.
